The Sirens' Song
The Woven World
The Tapestry of Golden Life
Is the Big Picture and the scene
Thread by thread it is woven
To glitter a glorious sheen
Roughly woven or silkily gone
This is the work of a dance
Skillfully and gracefully
Through every Stage and Stance
How lucky are we
To be woven into such a masterpiece
And to sing this Song
Until, at last, death does us release

He Will Remain.
I have no where to go
No one to turn to…
My life is not worth living.
What is the point? I ask myself.
Why was I put here?
Why was I born?
I can’t bear to look in the mirror,
For I disgust myself.
All that I see is sin too great
A soul beyond repair.
My state is one of helplessness
I am trapped in my own evildoings.
The chains that hold me
Refuse to break; I cannot save myself.
This is worse than death;
Forever I am haunted
Forever I am tortured
By the wickedness of my deeds.
In desperation I cling to things:
The idols of this world.
But they do not last, they crumble away
Leaving me standing here.
I fall to my knees.
I surrender! Let it end!
I can’t do this anymore!
And then…
A blinding flash of light
Tears through the prison walls;
The darkness melts away.
My chains fall off, and I am free.
Overwhelmed, I see my sin more clearly
But I can’t hide it from Him.
Through the light, He is coming towards me.
Will He cast me away?
He takes my hands in His,
And pulls me to my feet.
I hear his righteous words
Sounding in my ears:
“Follow me.
I will never leave you,
Nor forsake you.
When all else passes away, I will remain.”
He has cleansed me, through and through.
I am no longer bound by my past offenses.
I am born again,
Purchased by His blood.
What a marvelous thing, to think that
He has saved me!
He gave His life for me;
Now I am free to live my life for Him.

The Dream
The Dream
Awake? No!
Fall back to sleep, back to sleep.
You must think of it, remember
What you’re losing even now.
Look, the castle and the prince
And his bride clad in white.
Were you at the wedding?
Or were you just omniscient?
No, don’t think.
If you do it’ll slip away.
Prince, bride, castle of stone.
But don’t remember too hard
Or you’ll never sleep.
Castle, castle… castle…
You must think of more than the castle!
No, back to sleep, to sleep.
Recall when the people applauded,
When the prince appeared suddenly?
You clapped too. So you were there.
No! Stop thinking, sleep, sleep.
Bride, wearing white with a long veil
Of silver and white.
Come, return, you must!
You were so lovely, so alluring.
You cannot leave me now.
They hadn’t taken the vows yet.
Sleep, sleep. You must sleep.
Let the dream return.

Atlas
It’s heavy.
I can’t hold it up any longer.
I’m collapsing under this weight.
Why me? Why did you choose me for this?
It’s so heavy.
Am I the only one holding this up?
I’m falling
I can’t hold it.
I didn’t ask to be an Atlas.
How can I hold all this up?
Does no one see it?
Will no one help me share the weight?
It’d be so much easier, then
If only someone would see.
They have their own Worlds to hold
And I’m stuck with this one.
Maybe someone, somewhere, is holding this same world
But I just can’t see.
It’s so big, you know.
But it doesn’t help if I don’t know there’s someone helping.
And I, or we, can’t set this World down.
We’re holding it because He called us to hold it aloft.
People would die if we put it down to rest ourselves.
Look! A prince!
No, the Prince.
He’s walking this way.
Maybe He’ll give me someone to help me hold it.
Maybe He’ll tell me I can set it down,
That the problems are all fixed now.
Maybe He’ll rise up an army of Atlases,
And we can carry this World together.
No, He has no crowd following.
Just Him.
Scars on His wrists and feet.
What is he doing? He’s next to me.
He’s raising His hands.
He’s grabbing the globe.
He’s not taking the whole thing,
Just part of it.
I still have to hold up the World.
But I’m not alone, this Atlas.
He’s holding it up with me.
It feels so much lighter now!
It’s still there, the Earth.
I can still feel it.
But it’s easier with Him here.
And one Day,
He’ll take it completely.
This Earth will shrink,
But grow heavier.
Then, that Day,
It’ll go away completely.
And we’ll be free from holding any World.
His world will be the only world.
O, let that day come!
